Was the star of Bethlehem real? Yes!

STATION DISPATCH: Was the star of Bethlehem that the magi saw “in the east,” as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, real? We Christians believe it was, indeed; as do a growing number of astronomers and other scientists.

According to Vanderbilt University astronomy Professor David A. Weintraub, “Matthew chose his words carefully and wrote ‘star in the east’ twice, which suggests that these words hold a specific importance for his readers. Can we find any other explanation, consistent with Matthew’s words, that doesn’t require that the laws of physics be violated and that has something to do with astronomy? The answer, amazingly, is yes.”
